If you have a cell phone there is a good chance that you use it day in and day out for a number of different tasks. Although cell phones started out as a convenient way to get in touch with others no matter where they may be, this has developed even more over time. The newest fad in cell phones is text messaging. Although not every cell phone has sms or texting capabilities, the fact of the matter is that the majority of them do. For this reason, texting has become more popular than ever before.

So what exactly is a text message? Believe it or not, there are some people who have cell phones but do not use the texting features that they offer. Generally speaking, a text message is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. You have the ability to send a message full of numbers and letters to anybody who also has a cell phone. While this will never take the place of phone calls, it has taken on a large role as a mobile chat device of sorts. With texting people have the ability to shoot each other quick messages when they do not have the time to make a call, or simply do not feel like it.

SMS stands for ‘short message service’. Of course you know that you can send these messages from cell phone to cell phone. This is obviously the most common type of texting, and the one that most people are familiar with. But you should also know that text messages can be sent to other mobile devices, email accounts, and in some cases land based phone lines. So although text messaging is most common from cell phone to cell phone, they actually have much more to offer than just that. This is something that a lot of people are anxious to learn about. After all, the more ways that people can communicate with each other the better!

Although many new cell phones now offer instant messaging, text messaging is the most widely used mobile chat system because it gives people the ability to communicate no matter where they may be, and what they are doing. Using your cell phone for chatting via text messaging is much like the way that the cell phone changed the use of land based phones. Instead of having to sit at a computer to message people in real time, you can now use your cell phone as a mobile chat device.

The only thing that holds cell phone text messaging back is the fact that users have to pay for this service. For example, you may have to pay $.10 for each message you send and another $.02 for each one that you receive. Of course, this can change based on providers and the plan that you use.

Overall, sms messages are changing the way that people communicate. They have a lot to offer in the way of mobile chatting, and this side of the industry is still evolving

Are you in the market for a new cell phone? If so, you need to remember that there are many options out there for you to look into. One of the most important things to consider is the free cell phones that are advertised time and time again. Although this may sound too good to be true, the fact of the matter is that this is a legitimate deal in most cases. Of course, you will want to be careful with what you are doing, but all in all there are some free cell phone deals that you really should consider.

So why are cell phones free in some cases? This is a question that a lot of people have asked time and time again. Generally speaking, there are a few reasons as to why cell phones are free.

First off, most free cell phone deals come with a catch. The most common one being that you have to sign up for a two year contract if you want to get the phone for free. While this may sound like a rip-off at first, this is actually a decent deal as long as you do not mind being in a contract. You need to remember that you will have to sign a contract for service anyway. So since you will have to do this, why not get a free cell phone out of the deal?

Another reason that some manufacturers offer free cell phones is to draw in buyers, and of course this leads to success when compared to the competition. When stores can draw you in with free cell phone offers they have a much better chance of winning your business.

Also, stores know that when they offer free cell phones that people will jump all over them. And once they are set up with their plan, they will begin to use their phone as much as they can. In turn, this leads to large phone bills due to making calls, sending messages, and accessing the internet. In the end, this results in more money for them. So in other words, they more than make their money back by offering free cell phones to anybody who signs a contract.

Finally, do not forget that cell phones do not cost as much to make as the manufacturer would like you to think. If you are getting a $100 cell phone for free it is not like the manufacturer is losing that much money. There is a large markup worked into that price, and it is safe to say that they are not going to go broke in the deal.

All in all, free cell phones are usually good deals. Just make sure that you are aware of what you are getting with this “free” deal. Remember, even though you may hear the word free, everything costs something.

Buying a cell phone can be a fun process, but it is not quite as easy today as it once was. The reason for this is simple enough. When cell phones first became popular there were not too many choices for you to look into. You would only have the option to buy a couple of types of cell phones, and then there were only a few providers that you could get service from. This has changed dramatically over the past few years, and it is safe to say that this trend is going to continue as cell phones advance more and more.

There are many common mistakes that people continually make when shopping for a new cell phone. Instead of making one of these mistakes, you need to do whatever you can to avoid them.

Here is a list of 10 cell phone buying mistakes.

1. Do not buy the first cell phone that you see. Although it may be nice, there is a good chance that you can do better.
2. With so many cell phones to choose from, take the time to shop around so that you know exactly what you are getting.
3. If you do not find anything in the stores that suit your needs, search on the internet. In fact, it is recommended to shop online for a cell phone as the options are great, and the pricing is likely to be better than in brick and mortar stores.
4. Not all cellular phones are alike. Become familiar with all of the features that are offered, and which are important to you before you make a decision. This way you won’t find yourself having to buy a new unit in a year or less.
5. Not all cell phones will cost you hundreds of dollars. Sure, there are some that stand out above the crowd, but you should be able to get a good phone for a low price, even free.
6. Cell phones that are offered for free can be a good deal as long as you do not mind signing a long-term contract with a service provider.
7. Buying the cell phone itself is fun, but shopping for the right plan is sometimes a pain. But remember, it is a mistake to pass this by. There are many cell phone plans to choose from, and you need to make sure that you get the right one.
8. Although getting a good price on a cell phone is a good thing, you want to make sure that you also look at quality. This way, you can be assured that your phone will last.
9. Consider the size and weight of the cell phone you like as well as what you will be using it for. So many people make the mistake of getting caught up on features that they do not even look at this important feature.
10. Cell phones are changing rapidly. You will want to buy one that has some staying power. In other words, if your cell phone is obsolete after a month or so you will probably be itching for a new one.

Buying a cell phone in today’s day and age is easier than ever before. There used to be a time when you could only buy a cell phone from a local retailer that you could find in the mall, but this is no longer the case. In fact, online cell phone sales have really taken off. Buying cell phones online is something that a lot of people do, and there is every reason to consider this option the next time that you are in the market. Not only are online cell phone sales increasing in the United States, but this is also holding true in other areas of the world as well.

There are many reasons as to why online cell phone sales are up. Basically, online buying comes along with many benefits that consumers are just aching to take advantage of.

The biggest benefit to buying cell phones online is that you will have the largest selection available to you. When you shop at a local store for a cell phone you have to choose from what they have for sale. While they may have a unit that you like, there is a good chance that they may not. Additionally, you will not have nearly as large as a selection as you would if you were shopping online. This alone has driven a lot of people to test out the online buying market before they head to the local mall.

Another benefit of shopping for cell phones online is that you will have the ability to save money. Of course, this is not always the case with every cell phone, but when it comes down to it you are likely to get your best deal online. Make sure when you are shopping online for a cell phone that you look into which site offers the best deals. You will probably find many free cell phones available if you are willing to sign an agreement with a provider. For most people, getting one of these free cell phones is well worth signing the contract. After all, you have to have a provider anyway, right?

Finally, buying cell phones online is much more convenient as well. When you buy from a store you have to worry about pushy salesmen trying to upgrade you into something that you do not want or need. Not to mention the fact that you have to leave your house in order to go to a store. But when you shop for your cell phone online you will have the ability to skip the annoying sales pitch, and also shop from the comfort of your own home.

Overall, online cell phone sales are increasing and it appears that this is going to hold true for the foreseeable future. So if you are in the market for a cell phone you should consider buying online before you do anything else.

If you have children over the age of 8, there is a good chance that you have been asked for a cell phone. The fact of the matter is that the children of today are getting cell phones at an earlier age than ever before. As parents, it is your job to make sure that you provide your children with each new responsibility at an appropriate age. As such, you do not want to give your child a cellular phone until he or she is ready to be responsible with it. After all, it is easy to abuse the privilege of having a phone. Luckily, there are a few things that you can look at when trying to determine how old your child should be when he or she gets his first cell phone. Of course, this differs with each child, but all in all there are some general things that you can look into so that you can make the best decision.

First and foremost, has your child demonstrated that he is responsible enough to handle a cell phone? Remember, not only can a cell phone be easily lost, but the bill can be quickly run up if one is not careful. This is why being responsible is the most important attribute needed in order to trust a child with a cell phone. It can be tough to know if your child is responsible enough, but you should be able to get a good idea by just watching the way that they treat their other belongings.

Second, what does your child need a cell phone for? If they are just looking for a gadget, or because one of their friends has one, that should not be a compelling reason to rush out and purchase a RAZR for your little guy. Perhaps you are a working parent, and your child often stays late at football practice and needs to reach you for a ride. In other words, take stock of your child’s needs and how often it is that a cell phone would actually make his and your life easier. If this seems to be the case than a cell phone might just be a good idea.

Is there any minimum age for a child to be when he gets a cellular? Without being silly (under age 10 would probably fall into the ‘silly’ category), it really depends more on the individual child and the specific need. If your child has demonstrated adequate responsibility and there is an obvious need, by junior high school most kids are beginning to show signs of maturity to handle this responsibility. But don’t let peer pressure – yours or your child’s - cloud your own good judgment.

Once you decide to give your child the privilege of a cell phone, tell him what he is supposed to use it for, and also clearly explain that he needs to act responsibly with it. Remember, if you do not explain to your kids about proper usage of a cell phone, they may do something wrong without even knowing it. For instance, a first time cell phone user, especially a child, may not know that they do not have unlimited air time minutes which could lead to a very high bill. Don’t forget the option of providing a limited-access cell phone, either through limits you have your carrier set, or those you program right into the phone using a password.

Overall, parents and children are always debating when the right time to get a cell phone should be. Although you will have to make this decision on your own, consider carefully who your child is and how much responsibility they can handle. When you make these decisions with thought and careful consideration you won’t make the wrong decision.

Are you interested in buying a cell phone? If so, you will have a few decisions to make before you can get set-up. But do not let that scare you away. Buying a cell phone should be fun, and if you know what your options are, you should not have any problems whatsoever. In fact, there are so many choices when it comes to cell phones that it works out in your advantage. With all of these decisions you will have the ability to get the phone and plan that best suits your needs.

One of the biggest decisions that you will have to make is what type of cellular plan is best for you. After all, there are many of these for you choose from. If you do not take the time to look into the different cell phone plans you may end up paying for too much, or maybe not getting enough. No matter what, you need to know that there are two main types of cell phone plans. They are prepaid, and pay-as-you-go. Both of these options have pros and cons, and you need to make sure that you know what they are. This way when you are finally ready to make a decision you can buy the plan that is best for you.

Let’s start with the most common type of cellular plan; this is the postpaid option. Generally speaking, with a postpaid cell phone plan you will use your phone throughout the month, and when everything is said and done you will receive a bill either in the mail or online. Your bill will tell you how much you owe, and will also give you detailed information on what you did throughout the month as far as calls and text messages are concerned.

If you are interested in a postpaid cell phone plan you are going to need to have good credit. This is something that a cell phone provider will check on before they offer to extend you a contract. But remember, you do not need perfect credit; just good enough to get what you need.

Your other option is to purchase a prepaid cell phone plan. While these are not as popular as the postpaid options, they are really picking up the pace as of late. More and more people are interested in these plans for a couple of reasons. First off, with a prepaid plan you will have the ability to get your costs out of the way up front, and then use your cell phone until you run out of minutes. This is a great idea for anybody who does not use their phone a lot, or for kids who may not be as conscientious about budgeting their phone minutes. Another nice thing about these plans is that you can purchase more minutes as you go along.

As you can see, there are many differences between prepaid and postpaid cell phone plans. You will want to carefully look at and compare the pros and cons of each plan you are considering, and then decide which one is best for you financially and personally

Have you ever seen a young child toting around a cell phone? If you have ever been to the mall, or any other place where younger children might be, chances are that you have. While there is nothing wrong with younger kids using cell phones, the fact of the matter is that parents may be better off waiting until they are older before buying them one of their own. Sure, there are some benefits that go along with giving your child a cell phone, but at the same time there are risks as well as some safety concerns that you must consider as well. Remember, the world can be a dangerous place, and children are often times the target of bad things. As a parent, it is your job to make sure that they are as safe as possible at all times.

So what age is the right age for a child to get a cell phone? The difficult thing about this question is that there is no set answer. This is something that you will have to figure out on your own. If you feel that your child is mature enough when he hits junior high to have a cell phone, than by all means give them a chance to prove this. But on the other hand, if he has never shown responsibility in the past you may want to rethink your decision.

The great thing about cell phones is you can get in touch with anyone you want, whenever you want. With children this same advantage becomes a disadvantage, and potentially, even, a danger. Not to mention the fact that other people can also call them without you knowing about it. While this may not have been a problem when you were a kid, in today’s day and age of cell phone technology children can hide more things than ever before.

For instance, do you know who your child is talking to online? If you answered no, there is a good chance that the same people can also be calling them on the cell phone when you are not aware of it. And to take this a bit further, some of the people who they are talking to may want to get in touch with your child for all the wrong reasons. First of all, always maintain a strong line of communication between you and your child. And realize that you can’t know everything even with this precaution, and a child with a cell phone is a child with one more avenue to potentially dangerous characters.

As parents, you need to make sure that you look at your children on a case by case basis. In other words, just because your child’s friends are carrying cell phones does not mean that they have to be doing the same. Or if you feel that the time is right for your child to have a cell phone, you may want to try a child-friendly option such as the Cingular Firefly, a cell phone which is parent-controlled and uses preprogrammed numbers to enable your child the freedom of a cell phone, without the dangers of a free-to-use-how-you-like cell phone. With so much danger lurking around every corner, it is a parent’s responsibility to give their kids an ever-increasing amount of their own responsibility – with a minimum of the inherent dangers that can come along with them.

Although the Blackberry 8800 is relatively new, it is safe to say that this model is going to change the way the market looks at PDA phones. The fact of the matter is that the Blackberry 8800 may be the most anticipated unit of its kind in quite some time. If you are considering buying a phone that can do everything, there are not too many options better than the Blackberry 8800. But with that being said, you need to know how this model will change the market before you actually go and buy one. After all, you may not need a PDA that offers this much. Remember, there are other Blackberry models that are also top of the line.

The Blackberry 8800 is somewhat thick, but the tradeoff is worth it when you look at the features. There’s a vivid 2.4 inch screen that makes browsing the web and viewing multimedia a truly pleasurable experience. There’s a handy QWERTY keyboard that will allow you to type e-mails and messages comfortably. Located above the integrated keyboard is a smooth trackball for navigation. I like working with the trackball, it makes navigating on the Blackberry 8800 a breeze.

One of the things that set the Blackberry 8800 apart from its competitors is its built-in GPS capabilities. For a small monthly fee you’ll be able to receive street directions and 3-dimensional maps so you’ll never be lost, no matter where you may roam.

The great thing about this PDA is that it offers more features than you will know what to do with. In fact, some people see this as a bad thing when it comes to the Blackberry 8800. After all, if you do not know how to handle all of the features that are available to you, you are not going to get very far. Luckily, learning how to use the Blackberry 8800 is also another one of the best features of this PDA.

Much like other PDAs on the market, the Blackberry 8800 offers instant messaging and internet capabilities. This makes it easy for you to stay in touch with others, and even surf the net if you are in desperate need of some information. While you may never use these features, if you are a busy business person there is a good chance that they will come in handy sooner rather than later. It is always better to have these features available than not have access to them at all.

And of course, the Blackberry 8800 is not all work and no play. This PDA also offers cutting-edge games and applications, ring tones, wallpapers, and much more. This makes it easy for you to have fun with your Blackberry when you are not working hard!

All in all, this Blackberry Phone has a lot to offer from a smartphone, and if you’re looking for the latest in PDA technology this Blackberry is it. It is safe to say that this is one of the best PDA’s to ever hit the market, and for this reason consumers will forever have a different perception of what these units have to offer. Anybody who is in the market for a new PDA should most definitely check out the Blackberry 8800.

There is no denying that technology has changed the world for the better. The fact of the matter is that without cell phones things would not be the same. Of course, this holds true with many other types of technology as well. But technology is not always a good thing. There are many pitfalls that can go along with cell phone use as well. The good thing is that if you are aware of these issues you can do whatever it takes to avoid them. And this is exactly what a lot of companies are doing. More and more of them are giving courses on proper cell phone etiquette and things of the like.

Here are 10 things to keep in mind when using your cell phone. If you follow these 10 rules you will be known as a polite cell phone user, and people will really appreciate this.

1. Do not talk on your phone in an enclosed public place, especially a quiet area like a library.
2. Do not speak on your cell phone while on an elevator with other passengers.
3. If you must use your phone around others make sure that you keep the volume of your voice to a conversational level.
4. Do not use a ring tone that is likely to annoy others. Although these can be playful, in a business environment they are far from professional.
5. When using speakerphone in a car, politely let person on the other end know who else might be listening. Better yet, offer to call them back when you get to the office.
6. Turn your cell phone off when you are in a meeting. There is nothing worse than a cell phone going off during a meeting.
7. Do not answer your cell phone while you are out to dinner or lunch. This holds true if you are on a date, with colleagues, etc.
8. This may seem strange, but do not take pictures with your cell phone of people who you do not know!
9. Your cell phone is supposed to supplement your business communication. In other words, do not use your cellular phone just because you have one.
10. Do not multi task by making calls on your cell phone while you are at the bank, the mall, or anywhere else where you may have to communicate with others.

As you can see, common courtesy is important to employ when using the most common of handheld devices, the cell phone. While cell phones can go a long way in helping you day in and day out, polite and respectful usage will go a long way in making you look good. Keep the above 10 tips in mind, and do everyone else a favor – pass them on!

Huge reaction precipitated by technical error, which led MPhone webmaster to inadvertently post availability of the coveted Apple iPhone in March.

We apologize for the release date error. See the post about the iPhone Release date.
We have left the post intact because we were overwhelmed by reporters who wanted to see the original error.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

iPhone Release Date Error — Will Not Be Available In March As Reported on MPhone.net
Huge reaction precipitated by technical error, which led MPhone webmaster to inadvertently post availability of the coveted Apple iPhone in March.
(PRWeb) March 1, 2007 – iPhone fans flocked to the MPhone site, only to be disappointed to discover that the announcement made about the iPhone being available as much as two months earlier than expected was made inadvertently according to a spokesperson for MPhone online cell phone store. A technical breach coupled with human error was cited as the cause for the notice being posted. Thousands of eager iPhone watchers flooded the new online store seeking more information, and were all sadly disappointed to find that there was none.

“No one could believe how quickly the information spread,” commented Harry Novick, Sr. Site Manager for MPhone. “While the error was contained within 24 hours, the misinformation traveled like wildfire across the web. There was a security breach; MPhone has no agreement with Cingular phones or any other carrier to carry the iPhone at this time. This was not meant to be released.”

MPhone focuses on selling high-quality wireless devices for the most popular carriers, such as Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile. Adds Novick, “Because of our distribution agreements with the major carriers we are unable to provide certain information to the public. The person who posted had no right to post, and we have taken measures to insure that a security breach like this does not happen again.”
