Nokia fans feast your eyes on this! Motorola has unleashed it’s first candy bar style phone that is razor thin and weighs just 9 grams - it’s even lighter than the Motorola RAZR. SLVR is pronounced SLIVER (I guess thin is in) and not silver as some of us first thought. Earlier in the year SLVR L6 and L7 was actually code named ‘Royal Blade’ and for good reason. It’s got a sharp razor like look to it.

A quick side by side comparison shows that the SLVR (Motorola Sliver) is not too much longer than a closed RAZR and just a tad wider. It would be pretty easy to forget about this phone in your pocket. (The interface resembles the Motorola ROKR but a lot sleeker.) SLVR was designed especially for those of us (Nokia fans)who prefer a razor thin phone but have an aversion to the clam shell form. One of the features that makes the Motorola L6 stand apart from the Razr phones from T-Mobile and Cingular is that it has a built-in MP3 player to play your favorite songs plus a removable TransFlash memory card so you can store your favorite music files on it.

Oddly though, SLVR L7 does lack a headphone jack which seems strange because it has an MP3 player, though you could use the USB port for headphones. Some industry experts are speculating that SLVR will be released with a Motorola Bluetooth headset. When it comes to Talk Time and Standby Time, the SLVR has the RAZR beat in both: 6.33 to 3.00 and 420 to 200, respectively. This is a quad band GSM phone that includes Bluetooth Class 2, Push-to-Talk (PTT), VGA camera, SCREEN3 and a MP3 player.

There has been a lot of talk over the past year, in cell phone circles, about Motorola developing another razor thin phone (in candy bar form) that will attract traditional Nokia phone buyers and turn them into Motorola cell phone users. Nextel now has it’s very own Smartphone the Motorola i930! There has been online talk about Nextel and Motorola releasing a Smartphone for at least two years now. Add to that, the fact that this Nextel Smartphone operates on Windows Mobile software, has near WiMax high speed downloads, plus includes Pocket Outlook, Pocket Explorer, ClearVue document viewing software and Windows Media Player software!

What more needs to be said, the majority of typical Nextel customers don’t need a QWERTY keyboard and Bluetooth. With a Windows Mobile SE operating system, a 180Mhz processor along with the Windows Media player to play MP3’s and a VGA Digital camera to boot it’s obvious that Motorola and Nextel pulled out all the stops on the i930.

The just released Samsung A900 for Sprint has a striking, (and I mean striking!) resemblance to the V3 (Black Razor ).You may say, hey hold on now tiger, but that was my first thought when I happen to have glanced at it, I thought I was actually looking at a Motorola Razr phone and as far as Samsung and Sprint are concerned I was looking at just that.
