Read about more Verison FREE phone offers!
The Verizon LG VX4650 is quite simply the most stylish handsfree carphone-specialised cell phone you will ever lay your eyes on. LG VX4650 offers stunning features and even more stunning looks, it will keep your driving hours happy, productive and over all, safe. The polyphonic ringer also doubles up as a powerful speakerphone so you can easily hear who is talking to you even in fairly noisy circumstances. The VX 4650 sports speaker-independent voice dialling, so anybody can use the voice dialling, not just the person who ‘taught’ the cellphone. Dialling can be either from simply saying the name of a contact, or saying the number of the phone you want to connect to. This means that any person you want can use your VX-4650 to dial any number in the world! The possibilities are mind-boggling. Use voice recognition to also access redial, memo, driving, schedule or time; so most of the phone can be operated with just the power of your voice. Verizon’s Mobile Web package enables you to connect to the internet with the 4650 cell phone to surf the web, check your emails or, with Verizon Get It Now service, download a whole host of media to your cellphone, including ringtones, images, wallpapers and games. The Verizon LG VX4650 is the best phone for the stylish businessman who spends a lot of time in the driving seat but doesn’t want to lose precious time to the daily commute. I once dated a girl named Amy - I bet she’d like the new Amy Phone from a group in China who admires Samsung so much that they practically copy Samsung’s design. Only Samsung calls this the AnyPhone - not sure why this name is better than the Chinese version..
The Chinese are able to produce their fakes for a fraction of the cost - trampling intellectual property on the way - and get their products to market quickly. I guess that’s the result of a well educated and very hungry workforce with all the required raw materials and manufacturing facilities.
It seems that the Chinese are really good at making copies of successful (and sometimes unsuccessful) products. My parents went on a two week tour of China recently and my dad picked up a Rolex watch for less than $2 US. Not bad. Back at home they cost quite a bit more.
A few months ago I was on a flight from Chicago to Washington DC and had the pleasure of meeting Joe Allbaugh. He told me he was a farmer from Oklahoma, which is evidentally true. He was also the head of FEMA a few years ago and oversaw the 9/11 relief efforts in New York and Washington after the terrible terrorist bombs there. I was talking to Joe about the high price of oil and how it has given oil-rich countries an unfair economic advantage that I feel will go away as new sources of power become more important. (Incidentally most of these oil-rich countries have failed their people miserably - take Saudi Arabia and Venezuela for example - one exception is Norway. A few years ago they had a national referendum to decide how to invest the country’s oil money. They were talking about splitting it between programs for the elderly and education…)
Anyway, my flight to Chicago took a long time to get off the ground and Mr. Allbaugh came back to my seat and handed me the book The World in Flat by Thomas Friedman. I read a good part of it on that business trip. Basically Friedman is saying that with the chnages in communication and technology people all over the world have more of the same opportunities as people in the west have. Back to China - if they keep at it and perhaps learn to be proactive instead of reactive - they will be the major player in technology manufacturing within 10 years.

Find out about more great Motorola phone online phone deals.
Motorola is surely the only cell phone company that can make an ‘entry level’ cell phone such as T-Mobile V180 - this stylish and this good. The sleek clamshell design with external screen that shows time, caller ID, mes sage alert, battery/signal strength and more is worthy of a cellular phone costing twice as much; usual entry level phones are most always brick-shaped, with the features and portability of a brick as well! Inside the V-180, you are faced with the impressive 128×128 65k color main screen and keypad that certainly puts the ‘fun’ in ‘functional’! This futuristic ergonomic backlit keypad with 5-way navigation button makes finding your way though the menus a breeze - and what’s more you can do it in style! Calling features of the popular Motorola V180 include MP3 or normal polyphonic ringtones so your favourite tunes can be used as ringers, Picture Caller ID, Personalised ringtones, speakerphone mode and voice dialing (combined to make a handsfree mode for the car). Surprisingly for an entry-level phone, messaging is fully supported. SMS, MMS (for picture and sound messaging), email and even AOL Instant messenger are supported and iTap predictive text entry makes typing simple quick and easy; keeping in touch has never been so stylish or economic! Getting online couldn’t be easier either. T-Mobile wireless internet and the T-Mobile V180 support a web browser for surfing the net, email clients and the T-Zones download service so you can get extra content for your V180, be it ringtones, images, wallpapers or Java-enabled games to keep you occupied for hours on end. For endless entertainment and an almost unique level of feature content for a phone this low-cost, order your T-Mobile Motorola V180 today for free FedEx shipping!

Sponsored Link: The Motorola Rocker is FREE now at AmericanCell.
When I look around my home I realize that very few devices have converged.
My TV and DVD are separate devices. My Microwave, Toaster, Range, and oven: all separate devices.
Even my phone does nothing but call - it doesnt play music or let me connect to the web.
The only device I have found that is really converged is my clock radio.
As a Treo 650 addict I know that PDA and Phone can be converged. I even have a cool MP3 program that shows me album covers as I listen to songs (all legally downloaded and encrypted so no one will use them illegally of course.
So the Motorola Rocker (Motorola Rokr?) is the phone that tries to be an iPOD. From the tests we have run and the people we have talked to, it does a decent job of both. The world simply isn’t ready for this covergence.
The Rokr phone really rocks - but people are not yet ready to lay down their iPODs. Most of the iPOD croud, the perfect audience for this device, are still busy buying new accessories for their pet iPOD. (Do people name their iPODs? - I wouldn’t be surprised…)
So the Rocker is an excellent choice if you are not a real iPOD person and you dont need to have a PDA on your cell phone. Otherwise get two devices!
As long as we are talking about the Motorola Rokr E1 (I bet this will be called the E1 in Europe, just like the Razr is called simply the Motorola v3 across the pond…) and convergence I have a few more comments about convergence.
Phone+PDA = makes perfect sense to me.
Add a camera and MP3 Player = makes sense only as extras for occasional use.
I would like to suggest a device which would have several pieces that can plug into each other or communicate with each other and together form as reasonable set of devices. The main reason for doing this would be to share capabilities such as:
- Connectivity (Bluetooth/ Wifi/GPRS)
- Memory
- Power
Anyone have any other news on convergence?
Anyway for those who have decided they need the Motorola Rocker (Rokr).
It’s available for $149.99 See Rocker Phone Specials.

The Blackberry 7290 (The people at RIM apparently want you to write it BlackBerry ?!) This blackberry has a lot of the features of the Blackberry 7230. The main difference is Bluetooth. The Blackberry 7290 is the first “Blueberry”. Bluetooth is probably more critical a feature on the Blackberry then it would be on any other phone. The reason is that this is one of the few phones that you don’t want to hold up to your ear. The main reason is that you will look ridiculous. Another reason is that since the Blackberry 7290 (and other Blackberries as well) are really designed to be used for typing emails. Those old wired earpieces (which we used to call handsfree earpieces - handsfree but not wirefree…) just are not so cool.
The Blackberry 729o also adds more memory 32 MB this time. the screen is brighter than the previous Blackberry screens. And you can synch your email without placing the device in the cradle.
A few additional features that make the Blackberry 7290 tip-top…
- integrated viewing of attachments (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
- highlighted number keys for easier phone dialing
- remote address look up.
The downsides:
- Ringtones are weak
- Audio on the phone is not Nokia-reliable.
All-in-all this Blackberry’s the one that people seem to like best!
I recommend this one unless you can still be convinced that the Treo 650 is better!
The Blackberry 7290 is available free with a new service plan here.
