It seems that Blackberry is all over the news these days.
Last week everyone was talking about the Blackberry lawsuit - it seems that Blackberry had a great invention, only it someone else invented it first. (Reminds me of our friend Christopher Columbus whose birthday was a day off for some us this week - he discovered America - only there were some other people who discovered it and moved in a few centuries before Chris.)

Now the buzz is all about Blackberry Thumbs! Last February I attended the SES (Search Engine Strategies) in New York and rather than book hotel I stayed with my wife’s aunt and uncle in Edison, New Jersy. So I got to play commuter for a few days. I usually commute about 5 minutes from my home to my work so this was a real cultural experience. I was surprised to see how many New York commuters spend virtually their entire commute pecking away at their company-issued Blackberries. These people are perfect candidates for Blackberry Thumbs. If you zip off a few notes a day - I can assure you you’ll be fine!
Anyway - I actually prefer risking IPOD thumbs (a little known condition) for my commute. I think an hour of travel usually requires about 3-4 clicks!
Anyway - one part of me hopes that RIM (That’s Reseacrh in Motion up in Canada, the company that makes Blackberries) loses the lawsuit. Not because I wish them harm, I just think that more companies will be able to jump in and compete that way… But for all of you commuters - if they make your Blackberry phones illegal - there’s always Ipods…
